President Obama signed an order reversing the Bush administration’s strict limits on human embryonic stem cell research. Embryo donations will soon follow, paying premium prices to abortion clinics all over the US.
From the New York Times. In another Bush administration reversal, President Obama signed an executive order that reversed limits on human embryonic stem cell research. Even Obama notes that the issue is highly divisive, but signed the order nonetheless, with the pledge that his administration will “make scientific decisions based on facts, not ideology."
Huh. How about that? Obama isn't governed by ideology in making his decision to allow embryos to be destroyed for stem cell research. Yep, we can all rest assured that Obama has no ideology related to the value or worth of a human embryo, except to agree with aborting fertilized embryos, fetuses, or babies. Once held in thrall by that religious nut, George W. Bush, pure science will once again prevail in this country with no regard for ideology or conscience. I feel safer now, knowing that Obama isn't beset by that evil ideological monster that so many other Americans suffer from.
It was in the movie Jurassic Park that Jeff Goldblum's character made the following pronouncement: "Yeah, but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should." Then he was proved right when the dinosaurs broke free from their compounds and started eating things, like lawyers.
President Obama, just because we can use embryos for stem cell research, should we? Maybe, just maybe the rest of the country, people who don't have the luxury of operating without an ideology, maybe they have something to say. Maybe you should ask yourself the Jurassic Park question: "Just because you can, should you?"
