Nancy Pelosi: Contraception Will Help Economy

The Drudge Report news flash reports that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is doing her part to help the economy by recommending adding birth control funding into the stimulus package. The news flash, entitled "Pelosi Says Birth Control Will Help Economy" quotes Pelosi's claim that "contraception will reduce costs to the states and to the federal government."

And how will that help? In a dialog with ABC's This Week:

STEPHANOPOULOS: Hundreds of millions of dollars to expand family planning services. How is that stimulus?

PELOSI: Well, the family planning services reduce cost. They reduce cost. The states are in terrible fiscal budget crises now and part of what we do for children's health, education and some of those elements are to help the states meet their financial needs. One of those - one of the initiatives you mentioned, the contraception, will reduce costs to the states and to the federal government.

STEPHANOPOULOS: So no apologies for that?

PELOSI: No apologies. No. we have to deal with the consequences of the downturn in our economy.

Here's what Pelosi is saying in plain English: "If we can just stop women from having babies in this country, we can reduce costs."

Let's certainly not let babies and children get in the way of our economic recovery, Ms. Speaker. Those darned children are ruining the country for the rest of us decent folks. And those selfish men and women who want children? Why, it's downright un-American the way they just run off and procreate without thinking about how much they're hurting the economy!

Forget the lack of leadership in Congress. Forget the criminal behavior of our elected officials with regard to the economy. Forget the trillion dollars borrowed on our future. Forget the spineless wonders in Congress who simply give power away and let thugs rule business.

The liberal mantra is right. It really is all about the children. Right Nancy?
