Info Post
One of the legal functions of state approval of marriage is to determine the legal status of the children that such a marriage can produce. Gay marriage doesn't produce children. Two women cannot produce a child that is blood related to both parents. Adoption has different governing laws. One argument against gay marriage pertains to the obfuscation of children's legal status, blood relation, actual blood parent rights, and inheritance laws. Divorce has muddied the waters and destroyed enough children. Gay marriage will continue to muddy the legal waters with regard to children.

Sure, some children come out all right whatever the circumstances of their parents' marriage. But statistically speaking, children with both a mom and a dad fare better in society. Alternative forms of family statistically haven't produced children who can compete academically, socially, and in the workforce.
