Info Post
There's an interesting article from the San Fransisco Chronicle about the alliance that Catholics and Mormons created in favor of Proposition 8 in California. The link is:

Catholics, Mormons allied to pass Prop. 8

It looks like there are still enough value-based voters and a religious bloc in California to be a majority. Interestingly, 70% of the Black voters in California voted in favor of Prop 8. Apparently, they don't see gay rights as a civil rights issue. The Black vote was energized with the prospects of electing Barak Obama, and the additional Blacks who registered in California seems to have tipped the scales for Obama and for Proposition 8. The LA Times reports:

Gays, blacks divided on Proposition 8

One more note: One of the comments by an opponent to Prop 8 wrote about the article that appeared in the SF Chronicle. I find the logic fascinating: "It is high time that Christians went back to caring for the sick, the orphan, the infirm and those who are in dire need of help. Meanwhile, leave the rest of us alone as we forge a civil society that is truly inclusive."

Isn't this saying that all the Christians need to go away so that we can forge an inclusive society? (Why, yes it is Bob. Why do you ask?) That's great logic - All the people who disagree should just go away so we can have a society that includes only people who agree.

Like I've said before, intolerance is a double-edged sword. Be careful how you wield it.
